Groton Area Elementary School Daily Announcements for 5-14-2010
May I have your attention please for the daily announcements. This is Samantha Menzia.
Good morning. Today is Friday, May 14th, 2010.
George Lucas has a birthday today. He is famous for a number of movies he produced. His biggest blockbuster starred a couple of robots, a big hairy ape-like creature, a princess, and a villain named Darth Vader. Do you know the name of this blockbuster movie? The answer is on the bottom of the announcements that can be seen on the Tiger Talk Blog.
Students in grades 3-6 who are interested in attending a Northern State University Youth Football Camp on May 25 and 26 from 6-8 PM at Swisher Field may pick up a registration brochure in the front lobby.
Summer Library Hours at the elementary will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-12. You will also be able to take AR tests this summer that will count towards the 2010-2011 schoolyear!
Are you still reading books? You may win a fabulous prize by reading and taking more AR tests. In fact the first part of the May prize is an inflatables day and picnic lunch. We have read almost 4 million words worth of books in the month of May. Of the 628 books we have read during May, we have an 85% comprehension level. Way to go. Keep on reading and enjoy your time on the inflatables as well as the picnic on Monday.
Anyone interested in U10 or U12 girls softball please sign up in the office. Deadline to sign up is Friday, May 14th.
