Distinguished School District

The Groton Area School District is one of only four school districts in the state identified as a "Distinguished District" on the No Child Left Behind 2010 State Report Card.  Distinguished Districts are identified using the following criteria:  (a) met AYP for two consecutive eyars in reading, math, and other academic indicators for all three grade spans AND (b) at least 85% of the students in the "all student" group have met the state's proficient and advanced levels of student performance in both reading and math.  I am very proud of our students and staff  You have shined once again!  What a great way to start the 2010-2011 school year.

Welcome Back

Welcome back to the 2010-2011 school year.  The first week of school went well.  The weather cooperated and the students and staff seem to be settling in to their routines.  I would like to thank all of you that attended the Welcome Back picnic and Open House on Monday night, August 23.  We served about 625 people at the picnic that evening.  Parent and community support is an integral part of the success of our students.  Hopefully, many of you also had an opportunity to walk through the new addition and the remodeled classrooms at the junior high and high school.  The addition and remodeled classrooms are a welcome improvement to the facilities.
