In November, Hanover Street students were challenged to bring in canned food items to donate to a local food bank, God's Meal Barrel. We set a goal of 1,500 items to collect over a one week period. As an added incentive to our students, I, Mr. Hershner, vowed to spend a night on the roof at Hanover Street, if we met our goal. Well, the students did more than just meet the goal, they almost doubled it, bringing in close to 3,000 food items! A tremendous accomplishment, considering our small school! So, true to my word, this Thursday, December 9, I will be hoisted up onto the roof of HSE, equipped with a tent, lots of blankets, and some hot chocolate, to spend the night. Barring the occasional bathroom break, and perhaps getting a bite to eat, I am optimistic that I will be able to spend the night, and look forward to greeting students Friday morning from the roof, as they arrive to school.
