Recently our third grade students have been hard at work constructing birdhouses for sale. This is part of a program developed by Mrs. Glatfleter and Ms. Evans, with the help of a YCAL grant. The program gives students a "hands-on" experience related to economics from developing a product through advertising, marketing, and sales of the product. This program has recently been featured in the Hanover Sun, recognized as an "Exemplary Program" by Shippensburg University, and will be showcased at a YCAL conference held at the York Fairgrounds in May! Congratulations to Mrs. Glatfelter, Ms. Evans, our parent and HSE staff helpers, and certainly our 3rd grade students for their exceptional work. If interested in purchasing one of these terrific birdhouses, personalized by our students, please contact Hanover Street Elementary, or stop in at the Community Day event this Saturday, April 30, at the Middle School. Many of our birdhouses will be there for sale, but don't be late, they will go fast!
