Here in Hanover, we are truly lucky to have such a fantastic public library. Today our first grade students were paid a visit by Ms. Kelly Horner, from Guthrie Library. Ms. Kelly was able to tell our students about many of the wonderful programs the library offers, as well as introduce a special guest! It is the goal of Hanover Street Elementary and Guthrie Library, that every one of our first grade students gets a library card, and begins their adventure to a world of reading enjoyment!
The 2011-2012 school year has begun, and all of us at Hanover Street are so glad to see you at our new school. Most of you were able to get your first glimpse of the building at our recent Back-to-School Night. We had a great turnout and we appreciate so many of the positive comments regarding our new building! This week has certainly been a transition process for us. We have continued to get materials into our building and classrooms, as well as modifying our dismissal procedures to maximize efficiency, but more importantly, safety for our students. We are also pleased to announce that our kitchen is now fully-functional, so we will be serving hot meals, as indicated on our monthly menu, starting Tuesday, September 6. We will also start offering our 8:00AM breakfast to start the same day. Additionally, we are making daily progress on our playground area. Large construction containers are being moved and ground is being leveled to make way for a paved play area. We also have new playground equipment that will be shipped to us by the end of the month, and the installation of the equipment will begin shortly, thereafter. Our elevator has also passed inspection and with just a few final adjustments, should be fully operational by Tuesday, September 6. We greatly appreciate the patience and flexibility of our Hanover Street family, as we continue to enhance our school!
