Welcome to my little corner of the web. This is my first blog as the principal of Scotland Middle School and High School. Actually it's my first blog ever, so we'll see how this little project goes. My intention with this blog is to give people a chance to get to know me and inform them on happenings in the world of the Scotland Highlanders. I plan to write about current events in the school, student and staff highlights, as well as issues we face in education. There will always be room for a little more thoughts about anything, for example I love to read! And I would like to share some book reviews or at least my thoughts on books with people. I'm a big believer that literacy is one of the fundamentals of our learning processes so I want everyone, especially students, to love it!
I'm in the middle of my second week at my desk and am loving my job! I've met so many wonderful people with whom I am looking forward to working with. Scotland has been the most welcoming community and I look forward to my family and I becoming a part of this great community.
As for me, formerly I was a high school English teacher in the Platte-Geddes School District in Platte. I'm looking forward to the challenges my new position will bring me, but I already know that I'm going to miss being in the classroom. There's a cute little saying that people that go into administration go there because they couldn't teach. Well, I'm not a big pat my ownself on the back kind of guy, but I think I did alright. I'm a major advocate for students and want to see them all do well! That being said I promise that I won't be walked all over by kids. I believe all students deserve respect as individuals and humans, and I plan to give that to them all. But in return, I demand the same courtesy. We'll all get each other figured out and we'll be on track to become a successful team.
I am married to a wonderful woman named Alicia who is a nurse. We have two children who keep us on our toes Rennan (2 and a half year old boy) and Regan (7 month old girl).

Hi Ryan,
I'm not exactly sure how this works, but I will be one of the first to comment on your blog. What a great idea!!
You have a beautiful family and it is obvious that they are and should be first in your life. Welcome to Scotland School District!! Yes, you are right...it is going to be a great year!! I look forward to working with you.
