Well we've officially made it through our first week of school. For many, especially in my office the normal routine has begun. I've already had some meetings with students and some of the same concerns arise to be addressed. We should all constantly be concerned about our school systems to ensure that all students are receiving the best possible instruction. I like to remind myself and staff and students that I work with that we do have a great school and that things are going very well. And as a matter of fact they are...Scotland has a great deal to be proud of in its school system from the students we serve to the staff who facilitate their learning. I'm looking forward to another successful year. The Volleyball team had their first outing this week with wins across the board against Canistota, Football begins Friday night in Bonesteel versus South Central, and Cross Country opens their season on Saturday in Corsica. Fall sports is one of the greatest times of the year, and a time in high school to make some of your most memorable moments. On reading: I've taken a break from my series and reading for a bit, as I was a bit consumed. I'm excited, and disappointed, to learn that there will be seven books in the Song of Fire and Ice series, however 2 books have yet to be written, and the 5th book too nearly 10 years to publish since the previous book. I cannot imagine writing a book for a lifetime (the author started the series 20 years ago). What an immense volume of work, and I'm certain this will be the author's crowning achievement. Congratulations to one loyal reader for taking the challenge. Have you ever noticed that if you tell people, "I really don't recommend trying this, but........." it's a surefire way to spur them to do exactly what you wouldn't recommend? Well good luck Lorry with your adventures in The North, beyond The Wall, Riverrun and all of the other places you'll visit. I've sure enjoyed them.......and here's a picture of my children racing...future running stars that they are. Until next time...........................
