The bell schedule is now fully worked out, the freshman have mostly mastered their locker combinations, the teacher's voices are back, so this means that the schoool year is offically underway! It was indeed a great week. It's always enjoyable to see first hand the energy from both students and teachers during hte first week of school.
The beginning of this school year also brought the new opportunity for some students at-risk of not graduating on time or graduating at all. The Hampton-Dumont Alternative Program debuted this week with 9 students eager to continue their education and pursue a H-D diploma. As the program continues to grow and prosper I am encouraged and proud that our community and district has supported our mission statement to "provide a safe and caring enviornment where all students can and will learn."
With the beginning of our second week of classes I want to post information about an upcoming Homecoming Tailgate Fundraiser that the school and booster clubs have partnered on. The homecoming tailgate will happen on Friday, Sept. 25th before the varsity football game. The goal of the partnership is to raise money to help pay off the almost $25,000 cost still left on the high school wrestling/weight room addition. The cost of the tailgate meal is $6.00 in advance and $7.00 at the door and will consist of a "Hot Beef Sundae." Tickets in advance will be sold until Sept. 11th. Checks for meal tickets should be made out to Hampton-Dumont Schools. Please see the attached letter for details. The students and staff will start selling tickets on Tuesday this week.
