Although two days later than expected, it is still hard for me to believe today is the last day of school. Over the last few weeks, we have had many culminating activities including Field Day, 5th Grade Farewell and our Recognition Assembly. As I watched our 5th grade students exit the gym at the conclusion of the Recognition Assembly and they smiled and began thinking of themselves as 6th grade students now, I thought back on my first year at Owen. This has been a very interesting year for me and I have learned a great deal in this time. As might be expected for anyone moving into a new job, I made a few good and a few not-so-good decisions. I look forward to increasing the good and decreasing the not-so-good choices next year. I have appreciated so many conversations with many different parents and I look forward to expanding that next year also. I hope your children have enjoyed my daily ritual of high fives for departing students. While I work this summer, I will have a chance to prepare a more global outlook for the next school year instead of reacting as things arose this year. With one year completed, I am already looking forward to next year and the continued enhancement of student experiences at Owen Elementary. Thank you to all parents, students, staff and community members for your many contributions to Owen.
Jason,
I just wanted to say I think you have done a fine job in your first year. I kow there was a lot of learning and getting to know the school, the parents and most importantly the children. I find your desire to want to involve the parents a wonderful idea. I hope to become more involved and hope that others will do so as well. I hope all will come do so with open minds.
Thanks for your dedication and hard work.
