I'm sorry to be anonymous, but I know admin who read here. I was told recently I was overlooked in 2 jobs for basically being too progressive and 21st century. They were looking for a much more "traditional" person who could relate to students AND teachers. What a blow to my ego.

I think this is a great place to be - if the interview starts with dialogue - then it bodes well in employing someone who will engage in a collaborative working relationship - assuming that the interviewee is 'enquiring' about your school/students to maximise their suitability (personal challenge and development) for the job and not just hanging out for the best looking boy to ask them to the prom!

I wouldn't take that as a blow, rather it seems a compliment! If #1 you don't fit, you want to know that now, and #2 if that was me that (erroneously!) said that - walk into my office and cuff me upside the head for being a narrow-minded moron. Keep being yourself, and you'll find your fit. It holds true to my beliefs displayed at dangerouslyirrelevant as well http://www.dangerouslyirrelevant.org/2008/06/a-fine-line.html about who you are and what you want to be.
