My Campus Improvement Team and I design the plan for each year in April. We spend countless hours studying the data from that year and make a targeted plan on what/how we will attack what we have decided we will improve. It's very elegant, I write the plan as if I were writing a Pulitzer Prize winning piece. Then, we present it to the faculty; we all get jazzed about it, celebrate our successes, plan for the future (yada, yada, yada). Then we finish the school year.

In July (we are a year round school), we start the pre-school business with reviewing the plan and what we are accomplishing. The CIT and I meet monthly and review what we are doing. Then at the end of each quarter, we evaluate ourselves using the data we have collected from that quarter. It constantly focuses us.

And, when I get veered off course with the 1,175 monthly reports I do (okay, not quite, but it sure seems like it), then I have a whole team of people who remind me what we are doing.

When we just completed this quarter's report, we realized that we need to reach out to our parents in better ways. And, we made a plan for how we would do that. This constant talking and evaluating and planning keep us all focused (particularly me who is want to go off in a thousand directions without a plan that won't let me).

I use to like to fly by the seat of my pants and even build my airplane in flight, now I stay grounded and focused by getting everyone on board... and then they don't let me get off board.
