I am curious if anyone has any experience in conducting any sort of course using Second Life? I haven't formally used Second Life, but have been interested to read some folks who have presented at virtual conferences in Second Life.
I am teaching an online course this semester and have thought it might be interesting to conduct the class using that kind of medium.
Thoughts? Experiences? Where do you see this kind of technology being integrated in schools in the coming years?
I have spoken at several conferences in Second Life and we host regular business education meet ups at our SL campus. It is extremely engaging and you can incorporate breakout exercises, role playing and great group discussions as long as folks use headsets instead of the chat feature. That tends to slow things down too much and cause some frustration. I love it and for K-12 educators there are so many sites that provide great virtual field trips! Best wishes~ Gina Schreck

NCVPS just presented yesterday at the NACOL VSS conference using Second Life as the presentation tool. One of our presenters (CEO Bryan Setser) was not physically present in Arizona, but was still able to present live through Second Life. Others were invited to joined and do a back channel chat while the presentation went on.
