I certainly agree with you about the importance of using data. It's one thing for a teacher to say that students are learning in the classroom and another to back that statement up using data. For example, a teacher might feel they are reaching their students but students may express a totally different viewpoint when surveyed (or on an assessment of learning).

We have a ton of data available to us in education. We need to use it wisely in the decision making process.
