Boy, the beginning of the school year really wears me out! I’m finally getting caught up on my sleep. You’d think all the excessive assessments my teachers have been rightfully griping about, the fifteen new initiatives the district has mandated, or the space wars going on in the building due to the lack thereof, have cost me my zzzs. Nope. I’m finally getting some much-needed shut-eye because the Twins, who scratched, clawed, and squeaked their way into the postseason are finally done with their season. Not that I was happy about the three and out to New York, but at least the stress of having the bases loaded with no outs and not managing to score a single run against those Yankees is history. It provided us the comic (well maybe not so comic) relief we needed while plowing through the district’s new assessments and initiatives, and figuring out the space allocations this fall. While we were preoccupied with running records and math exams that most students couldn’t even begin to answer, we had a diversion that created excitement and anticipation, which we all need to relieve the day-to-day stress in the world of education. And, while the Twins may have been short-lived in the play-offs, we still have Favre, and we’re 6-0.
